New Dish Network Deals

In today’s economy, consumers are looking for every way possible to stretch their dollar. One area you may want to consider is your cable television bill, as rates continue to rise in this industry. One choice to look at is satellite TV, specifically either Direct TV or Dish Network and the options they offer today.

Dish Network is the second largest satellite TV company, with nearly 14 million subscribers. Because of the heated competition in the pay television market, Dish Network offers great deals to new customers, in the hopes that they will become a long-time subscriber.

So where should you search to find the best satellite TV specials? The world wide web of course is a great place to begin researching satellite TV specials. At this time, Dish Network is offering a special deal which can get you started with satellite television for just 9.99 per month. Now the customer should be aware that this is a promotional price on the Classic 100 bundle, which is regularly priced at 34.99 per month. In addition, local channels are not included in this price, so expect to pay an additional $5 or so for local programming.

Now many consumers today are in the market for an all-inclusive satellite television bundle? The item that would fit the bill in this case would be the America’s Everything Pak, which is offered at a promotional price of $72.98 for six months, and $97.98 per month after that. Included here is every cable television channel you can think of , including 31 premium movie channels like Showtime. Another great option is the Dish Network Classic Silver package, offered at around $50 per month, with a $25 discount for the first six months of service.

Another great thing about satellite TV is that most of the equipment is provided at no charge. From the satellite dish to the HD DVR, Dish Network will set you up. Generally, you will only incur upfront costs if you desire to have multiple DVR units. In addition, the satellite TV installation process is easy as well, offering free installation in up to four rooms in your home.

Why not check out the Dish TV deals available and compare them with what you currently pay for cable TV. Odds are you will be surprised at how much cheaper satellite TV costs.

Comparing Cable TV vs Dish Network

Getting a good package from the cable company isn’t difficult, that is as long as your not already a customer of the cable company.

The reason for this is due to the fact the cable TV company wants to increase their customer base, thus they are willing to give you a great deal, generally for the first six months of your cable service. The cable company figures if you sign up with them, you probably will set up a so-called bundled packages that puts all of your services together like voice, video and hi speed internet.

You can usually get a triple play bundle for just per month for the first six months or so. Lets say normal pricing with a cable company is as follows: Basic TV costs a month, high speed internet is per month, and phone service is a month. With prices like this, your overall bill would be 0 per month before taxes and fees that always seem to find their way onto your cable bill.

But it is good to think about how this could turn out down the road Well think about where you will be once the promo is over. Then you will have all of your TV’s hooked up to cable TV, your high speed internet including your e-mail address with the cable company, and of course your phone service with the cable company as well. But suddenly the price goes up nearly 40%, from around $100 every month to $140+ each month. Now is it easy to switch?

Maybe, maybe not. The best thing to do ahead of time is compare providers before making your final decision. One would be smart to compare Dish Network vs cable TV before making a hasty decision.

While you might say to yourself it is easy to switch to some kind of DirecTV deal or something else from your local phone company like FiOS by Verizon. But that may be a situation of easier said than done. Usually the time and inconvenience of switching from cable to a different provider makes the customer stay with whatever service they have. Even if the monthly cost is high, the customer stays because they have all the services on the same bill from the same provider. That is what the cable television company counts on when offering short term deals to acquire the subscriber.

Prices Going Up For DirecTV Customers

Well it is the time of year when both cable and satellite TV companies are raising rates.Comcast got the ball rolling in November of 2008, with notice that they would be raising rates on their customers. Dish Network followed up with their own announcement that took effect in early February of 2009, also raising prices on customers.

Direct TV is the latest major player to announce a rate increase. The Direct TV price hike will take effect in early March, and will raise the prices of most packages between $3 and $5 dollars each. DirecTV is citing higher programming costs as the reason for the increase. Direct TV prices have been raised for the past three years.

All in all, the increase won’t break any budgets. When you look at it logically, they are basically raising the price of service about a dime a day, well worth it for most satellite customers who watch between one and four hours of television each day. Still, it seems as if consumers are getting nickel and dimed to death, even with the economy going into the tank.

On the other hand, compare DIRECTV vs Dish Network and that will give you a good feel on what satellite TV can offer. One example is the price charged for DVR service every month. The DirecTV DVR is about per month, while Comcast charges upwards of for their DVR service. Fees like this really can inflate your bill.

DirecTV had another great quarter to finish out 2008. They added over 300,000 customers in the latest reporting quarter, while Comcast lost a half a million. That in itself show that Direct TV feels comfortable raising rates, even though the economy continues to slow to a crawl. Dish Network satellite TV will certainly have a hard time keeping up with Direct TV in 2009, as they have lost a key reseller, with AT&T switching over and offering Direct TV service this year.

I Love My New Digital Video Recorder

The DVR has to be the greatest add-on to my television. Ever since I got connected to the DirectTV Russian package and their new digital video recorder, my TV viewing habits have changed.

Here is how I do it.

If you have not watched television with a DVR, or a TiVo, you don’t know what you are missing. You have complete control over all the programming you decide to watch. If you are watching a program, and all of the sudden you realize that you are starving, you can just hit the pause button. Go make your food, and come back when you’re ready, even if it takes an hour!

Then when you begin viewing your program again, you will have the added bonus of skipping through any advertisements that come up. Pass right through them each time they pop up! Sometimes I don’t see a commercial for days.

Now here is how to get the most out of a digital video recorder. I don’t even like to channel surf anymore. I simply set up my DVR to save the programs I like. Even when watching football, I set the digital video recorder, then I sit down about an hour after the game actually starts. That way, I can skip through all the commercials, and watch the game in half the time.

Finally, I can always see new episodes of my favorite series. An example, new episodes are coming out soon of Friday Night Lights. On my DVR, all I need to do is select the record series choice, and every time the show airs, my Direct TV DVR finds it night or day, and saves it for me. I can set it to record all of the episodes, or just the first-run editions. All of this in crystal clear hi def too!

Then, when I have time to watch TV, all of my shows are waiting there for me to watch, minus the commercials of course. No need to rearrange my schedule around the networks, not with my new TiVo.

While other companies like U-Verse and Verizion Fios have also begun to offer DVR service, satellite TV companies like DIRECTV pioneered the product.

DIRECTV vs Dish Network

In the early 1990s, satellite television was first introduced to the market. It was understandable that only a few people actually went out of their way to get their hands on a satellite dish. After all, the dish was a lot more expensive just as its size was considered large and intrusive.

At the time, satellite dish owners also used it to have access to channels from around the world or channels that were not meant for mass audiences. However, people did not readilyget those signals. They had to look for those signals that is usually by chance alone.

This is no longer the case these days. If you want a particular channel, all you have to do is sign up with a direct broadcast satellite provider or DBS company. A DBS provider, such as Directv and Dish Network, is the one who chooses the channels from the programming sources and brings it to your television sets. Simply sign up, an installer comes out and puts up a satellite dish for you and connects it to all of your television sets inside the home. Generally, homeowners can have as many as four different rooms set up to receive satellite TV signals. This is quite an advantage when lining up Dish Network vs Direct TV.

Satellite TV is not only limited to the number of channels you can have. There is also a satellite HD that feeds apt programs for your hi definition television set. HDTV has a bigger resolution that gives way to maximum viewing pleasure. These shows also come with surround sound that pretty much takes the cake for TV and home theatre enthusiasts alike. Best of all, there are so many DIRECTV deals out there today. Spanish speaking customers can take advantage of the Direct TV Mas packages.

The pleasures it brings take another turn with the arrival of the technology of a DVR. A DVR is a recording device meant for television shows. This technological marvel gives full control over live television that fanatics no longer have to worry about missing their most wanted shows. Truly a great way catch up on what you might miss on DirecTV.
